I had the pleasure to attend several of these with my female co-workers in the spring of 2016 , and it was such an inspiration. All of the videos are posted online, and I would highly recommend! Ellen Lupton especially, providing the high five that we all need :)
Roadtrip Retrospective
MA>CT>NY>PA>WV>VA>NC>TN>MS>LA>TX>NM>AZ>CA
The country seems smaller, but more magnificent, the trip united both coasts in my mind as one big beautiful America. Driving west you never miss the sunset!
(Note: bug splatter on windshield becomes an issue when driving into sunset.)
Key items: Car, iPhone, charger, Spotify, podcasts, snacks, water, hotel tonight, google maps, cowgirl boots, sunglasses, bathing suit, selfie stick, open mind
The Real Roadtrip!
It has been a while since I've updated my blog, but I'm about to change all of that! In one week, I will be taking a road trip across the country from Boston, MA to relocate to Los Angeles, CA.
I'm excited for the adventure ahead, to finally give my real camera something to look at, and to spend quality time with one of my favorite people along the way, my sister!
Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!
Positive Productivity
In corporate America, there is often negative feedback and workplace attitudes. "They hate that color, image, style, etc...". This has the potential to create a complainer culture, which is toxic to a creative team and productive work environment. Instead of dwelling on the negative, it's important to continue to explore creative options, and ideas that will turn the situation into a positive. My co-workers know that my work motto is "Never Stop Trying!". I even have that phrase printed on my wall, as inspiration to myself and others to continue to seek creative solutions in light of any negative feedback.
I came across this article today, "3 Powerful Ways to Stay Positive", from The Huffington Post that is in line with my own mentality. It highlights that a positive attitude is not only good for your performance, it is good for your health!
Let's start this work week off with positive outlook, Monday's don't have to be bad!

Brands go Behind the Seams
This video beautifully depicts the process in which a Burberry scarf is made. The focus on the natural materials and colors, while showing the hand crafted element behind each scarf, brings the product great authenticity. (I love the song too!) From a customer standpoint, knowing it was thoughtfully produced and designed is a great addition to the product value.
Some other companies that I feel do an excellent job in providing the "behind the scenes" production, and product authenticity are Everlane, and Eileen Fisher. Everlane gives radical transparency into what each of their products cost to make and bring to the retail setting (this can be found on each product detail page). They also shed light on each of their factories and tell a beautiful factory story including imagery. It is a huge step in the retail industry, showing the customer that you are in the business to create great, responsibly produced items, you gain their trust in your brand value. https://www.everlane.com/factories
Eileen Fisher, is another great company that gives customers insight to the production and materials behind their brand. Beautiful imagery and detailed content proves that they invest in the quality of their product, allowing the customer to feel confident in investing in the brand as well. http://www.eileenfisher.com/behind-the-label-overview/
Happy Friday!
Design is One: Lella & Massimo Vignelli
I highly recommend the design documentary, Design Is One: Lella & Massimo Vignelli. This Italian husband & wife couple have made incredible design achievements in America. From the NY subway to fashion retailer Bloomingdales, they mastered seemingly simple organization of information and design. Their work and thought process is an inspiration. I love their motto, "if you can't find it, design it". Reminding us all to stay inspired to create and make the design world a better place.
Massimo also said "3 things that I believe in in this life: vision, courage and determination". Such great insight into the mind and motivation of a brilliant designer, and great words to live by for anyone aspiring to be such.
You can watch it streaming on Netflix now, or here is the link to the film's site: http://designisonefilm.com/
hello world
This blog will be a place where I share my design inspiration. Colors, typography, and visual layouts created by others or myself.
I bought these beautiful flowers to bring some color to my desk: pretty, purple, perfect!
